Menstruation is a normal part of growing up for every girl, yet in Afghanistan, 70 percent of girls do not take a bath or shower during menstruation for fear of infertility. 30 percent miss out on school and some 80 percent of girls are not allowed to attend social events and many are subject to child marriage.

Thanks to the support from the people and Government of the Republic of Finland, UNICEF Afghanistan is supporting proper hygiene, clean and private toilets at school and good sanitation facilities promoting the dignity, health, education and empowerment of every girl.

Let us break the taboos and silence.

For every girl, dignity, health, education.

A simplified comic material for adolescent girls, both in and out of schools complements the first ever Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Guideline for teachers in Afghanistan. Click here to view the comic book.
