Peacebuilding Knowledge, Attitudes and Skills: Desk Review and Recommendations
A study of the knowledge, attitudes and skills young people need to contribute to peacebuilding, conducted for the Adolescent Kit's development
Highlights
This report, conducted by UNICEF's Adolescent Development and Participation Section in 2012 as part of the development of the Adolescent Kit for Expression and Innovation, summarizes a review of global educational programme resources and literature on the categories of knowledge, skills and attitudes that children and adolescents need to cope with conflict, resolve conflict, promote peace, and contribute to peace processes. It outlines catetories of "Peacebuilding Knowledge, Attitudes and Skills (KAS)," that all educational systems, programmes and interventions can support adolescents in learning and using so they may contribute to peace in their communities and societies. The Peacebuilding KAS outline was refined and expanded as the Ten Key Competencies, which are the foundational outcome framework of the Adolescent Kit.
