About

Model Training Module on Child-Friendly and Gender-Responsive Justice

Across the globe and in Viet Nam, women and children involved in criminal proceedings—as victims, witnesses, or alleged offenders—continue to face significant barriers to meaningful participation. Ensuring equal access to justice requires criminal justice actors to adopt child-friendly and gender-responsive approaches.

This model training module addresses these gaps by providing standardized, practical training materials that can be used across sectors to ensure that law enforcement, justice sector professionals, and other competent authorities are equipped with fundamental knowledge and skills on these issues. It raises awareness of the challenges faced by women and children in the justice system, helps practitioners recognize harmful gender myths and stereotypes, and equips them with actionable tools to apply child- and gender-sensitive approaches in practice.

Designed for flexibility, the module responds to the competing priorities of busy practitioners. It can be delivered as a stand-alone half- or full-day training or integrated into broader programmes on gender-based violence and justice.

Complete with facilitator and participant handbooks, the package bridges international standards and everyday practice.
