Harnessing the Demographic Dividend in Uganda

An Assessment of the Impact of Multisectoral Approaches

children in Uganda
UNICEF Uganda/2019/Schermbrucker

Highlights

With over half its population under the age of 18, Uganda has one of the youngest populations in the
world. This is only expected to increase over the coming decades as the number of children, adolescents and youth in Uganda is forecasted to rise from 27.5 million in 2015 to 75.9 million in 2080. Based on these population dynamics, Uganda is uniquely positioned to harness the economic and social benefits of a young and growing dynamic population.
