Helping Kasese rise above the floods
UNICEF intervenes to provide much needed support to the affected communities
Every year in Kasese District, floods rip through the valleys, creating a path of destruction and burying people's homes, land and livelihoods. Leaving many displaced and in dire need of food, shelter and safety. Not even schools are spared, putting children at risk and leaving them without safe spaces to learn.
UNICEF together with the Government of Uganda, continues to strengthen systems to ensure timely response in emergency situations such as this, to prevent water borne diseases such as cholera, while reaching the most vulnerable people with life-saving services.
