ANKARA, 2 October 2025 – Funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the Ministry of National Education and UNICEF, the Digital Ecosystem for Teacher Training Project has entered a new phase with the launch of online trainings designed to strengthen teachers’ digital skills. The project aims to enhance teachers’ professional capacities, support more effective use of digital technologies in classrooms, and contribute to improving the overall quality of the education system.
As part of the project, a Digital Competency Training Package consisting of ten modules has been developed and made available on the ÖBA (Teacher Informatics Network) platform. The upgraded ÖBA provides teachers with a user-friendly experience, while the newly developed Teacher Learning Monitoring and Evaluation System will systematically track participants’ learning processes. This system allows teachers to learn at their own pace and supports a flexible structure that can be adapted to different needs.
The training will be open to all teachers, who can access the modules at any time, at their own convenience. Covering a wide range of topics, from basic digital literacy to creating inclusive learning environments, from using digital tools in assessment to integrating emerging technologies into education, the training will provide teachers with opportunities to expand their knowledge and skills. The program, aligned with the Digital Competency Framework for Teachers developed under the project, will also promote professional growth in areas such as communication, collaboration, content creation, and responsible digital citizenship.
Learning outcomes will be measured through pre- and post-assessments as well as performance tasks within the modules. Participants who successfully complete the training will be awarded certificates.
Speaking at the press conference, UNICEF Representative to Türkiye Paolo Marchi stated: "In a fast-changing digital world, teachers play a key role in supporting children adapt and thrive. This project strengthens the digital education ecosystem and empowers teachers to drive greater equity and quality in learning."
Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Türkiye, Jurgis Vilcinskas, said: “This project is an investment in people — in teachers who will carry these skills into their classrooms, and in students who will carry them into their futures. Because when teachers are equipped, students are empowered. And when students are empowered, the future is bright.”
Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin added: “As the Ministry, we value initiatives that enhance the quality of education by empowering teachers to effectively use technology in learning environments and supporting the teaching profession in adapting to the demands of the digital age. Within this scope, through our Digital Ecosystem for Teacher Training Project, we aim to improve the basic and intermediate digital competencies of our teachers and reach at least 200,000 teachers through online training.”
Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security, Prof. Dr. Lütfihak Alpkan, highlighted the critical role of vocational education in shaping the future workforce, emphasized the importance of digital transformation in the education system and the world of work, and expressed his gratitude to the European Union for the projects funded under the IPA framework.
