Generation Unlimited launches "Youth Challenge 2020" in Tajikistan
Calling on young Tajik innovators to design solutions to improve education, employment and civic empowerment.
Dushanbe, 1st February 2020. Today UNICEF Tajikistan and UNDP launch a Youth Challenge to develop projects aimed at creating an environment for girls and adolescents with disabilities to access skills and knowledge, opportunities and competencies to succeed in life and work. This initiative is co-organized and co-hosted globally by Generation Unlimited partners in Tajikistan - UNICEF, UNDP Tajikistan and the Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports under the Government of Tajikistan. Primary aim of the challenge is to inspire young people with brilliant ideas, but without the resources to bring them to life.
Organizers encourage young people who are 15 to 24 years old who want to find innovative solutions to the issues and turn them to social projects. Interested participants are asked to form a team and come together with ideas to answer the questions below:
- How to provide girls with skills and knowledge for life and work;
- How to create an enabling environment for development of adolescents with disabilities?
Successful applicants will be invited to take part in design workshops. Following these workshops, the five most promising solutions from each country will be selected and support and mentoring will be provided with mentoring to support the projects’ implementation. Then, in June 2020, the most promising solutions from each country will be submitted to a global judging process. These projects will receive further funding of up to $20,000, along with a tailored global incubation programme from Generation Unlimited partners to support them to scale.
Young people who are interested to participate need to create a team of 3 to 5 people and fill out an application form on an official website of the contest – www.navovar.tj
The most promising ideas will contribute to the success of Generation Unlimited, an ambitious multi-sector public-private global partnership meant to meet the urgent needs for expanded education, training and employment opportunities for young people on an unprecedented scale.
