North Darfur (Al Fasher) and Kordofan Crisis

Highlights
North Darfur
- Escalating conflict has displaced nearly 100,000[1] people since 26 October, while famine has been officially confirmed in Al Fasher[2] including signaling an unprecedented deterioration in food security and child malnutrition.
- Insecurity, looting, and blocked access routes continue to leave thousands trapped without safe passage and expose women and children to extreme protection risks.
- UNICEF support in Tawila and the surrounding areas of Al Fasher includes:
- Delivery of essential medical kits and therapeutic food, reaching 3,580 patients with consultations and screening 774 children for malnutrition, while preparing a mass campaign for all children under five and pregnant women.
- Water trucking 150,000 liters daily, benefiting 20,000 people, constructing 90 temporary communal emergency latrines for 4,500 individuals, distributing school hygiene supplies, and maintaining continuous water quality monitoring.
- Provision of psychosocial support to over 3,000 children and caregivers, reunification of 22 separated children, and strengthening of Gender Based Violence/Sexual Exploitation and Abuse prevention through 168 reporting channels and training of 127 frontline workers.127 frontline workers.
Kordofan
- Escalating insecurity in North Kordofan especially around Al Obeid have triggered continued displacement of 39,410 individuals, between 26 October and 13 November 2025[3], including those displaced from Bara Locality on 13th November.
- Siege conditions in South Kordofan, is causing acute shortages of food and medical supplies as population in Kadugli and Dilling remain trapped[4]. UNICEF support comprises:
- Expanding health services through mobile clinics, cholera prevention sessions for 250 people, and provision of essential supplies for 5,000 individuals, alongside screenings and delivery of specialized nutrition products.
- Improving access by repairing hand pumps for 1,000 people, running hygiene campaigns for 8,000 individuals, and dislodging 48 latrines in major gathering sites to reduce disease risks serving approximately 2,400 people.
- Providing psychosocial support to 400 children and caregivers, distributing recreation kits, and raising awareness on explosive ordnance risk among 313 girls in high-risk areas.
