We are pleased to share the UNICEF Sierra Leone Quarterly Newsletter for July to September 2026. This edition highlights key milestones, including:
- Strengthening evidence-based budgeting and advocacy for increased and more effective public investment in children through the presentation of UNICEF’s 2026 Budget Briefs to the Ministry of Finance.
- Improving early childhood education by supporting foundational learning reforms and strengthening the skills of 5,000 pre-primary (P0) teachers in child-centred teaching, classroom management and inclusive learning practices.
- Accelerating newborn and child survival through the restoration of specialised newborn care in Makeni, expanded access to medical oxygen, strengthened neonatal nursing and improved delivery of life-saving vaccines to hard-to-reach communities.
- Advancing child protection and the prevention of harmful practices through community dialogues, strengthened school safeguarding systems and training for religious and traditional leaders to address female genital mutilation and child marriage.
- Promoting child rights and resilience through responsible digital transformation, stronger community-based health services, improved pandemic preparedness, climate-resilient development and greater participation of young people in decisions that affect their lives.
