About

Despite remarkable strides in education reform—such as the Free Quality School Education Programme and the National Policy on Radical Inclusion in Schools—many children in Sierra Leone remain excluded from meaningful learning opportunities. Girls, children with disabilities, and those from poor or rural communities face the greatest barriers to access and achievement.

This policy brief outlines the urgent need to strengthen inclusive education as a pathway to equity, resilience, and national development. It highlights persistent challenges such as poverty, gender inequality, inadequate infrastructure, and limited teacher training, while offering evidence-based recommendations for systemic change.

Explore how inclusive education can unlock the potential of every child, strengthen teaching and learning, and contribute to long-term social and economic progress in Sierra Leone.
