Near-Poor Households in the Philippines and the Role of Social Protection
A study
Highlights
This study on near-poor households provides critical insights into the vulnerabilities faced by families at risk of falling back into poverty, highlighting gaps in social protection coverage and adequacy. Developed in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), with support from Australian Government, the findings underscore the need to update the methodology and thresholds for near-poor households to strengthen inclusive and shock-responsive social protection systems. The evidence generated will inform policy and programme design to ensure more resilient pathways out of poverty and better safeguard children and vulnerable populations.
