From January to July 2024, over 221,582 migrants and asylum seekers crossed the border between Colombia and Panama through the Darién jungle, including 46,567 children and adolescents (21% of the total). Venezuelans accounted for 66% of the flow, followed by Ecuador (6%), Colombia (6%), China (5%), and Haiti (4%). 12% of the migrants using this route are extracontinental, coming from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
Situation reports are the main reporting tool to monitor UNICEF Panama’s humanitarian response. They provide an update on the situation and needs of children in human mobility situation, as well as information on response and funding requirements.
