Young Pasifika Wayfinders
Paving the way for unity as allies and advocates toward a brighter future
UNICEF has launched a new Pacific Adolescent Boys Advisory Group; the Young Pasifika Wayfinders.
We named ourselves the "Young Pasifika Wayfinders".
We are an adolescent boys' advisory group for UNICEF Pacific. We are helping UNICEF design and develop relevant programmes and initiatives for adolescents like us. We are also focused on connecting with, supporting and inspiring other Pasifika adolescent boys and all their diversities, like ourselves.
Bringing together boys aged 15-19 years from across 11 Pacific Island countries, the Young Pasifika Wayfinders will co-design and co-create new ideas and initiatives targeting adolescent boys.
During their first 12 months of engagement, the Young Pasifika Wayfinders will support UNICEF to co-design initiatives and lead innovative adolescent advocacy messaging on key topics affecting adolescents, including:
- Adolescent mental wellbeing
- Gender equality
- Online safety
- Gender stereotypes and positive masculinities
- Climate change
This group is a contribution to progressing gender equality in the Pacific, by engaging boys in the conversation, as key allies and changemakers.
Through these efforts, UNICEF seeks to co-create innovative solutions with adolescent boys which inspire safer and healthier relationships, peer groups, communities, and online spaces for all.
