Highlights

This report presents findings and recommendations from implementation research in Kuwait on integrating Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) into primary health care for children, adolescents, pregnant women, and new mothers. The research which is part of a multi-country initiative under the WHO-UNICEF Joint Programme, aimed to understand how MHPSS can be effectively delivered through primary care in Kuwait and explored connections with key sectors - child protection and education.

Key recommendations include promoting MHPSS within government systems, particularly the role of PHC in prevention and care; establishing links with other government agencies; securing funding for care model development; leveraging community engagement for MHPSS initiatives; incorporating MHPSS screening into Well Baby clinics; developing guidelines for children and adolescents; and utilizing digital technology for MHPSS monitoring and care.
