Reporting Mechanisms and Helplines in Malaysia
Advocacy Brief
Highlights
‘Reporting mechanisms’ are infrastructure / systems that support and enable (the process of) disclosing VAC, enable access to a wide range of support, and may facilitate access to justice processes. They are crucial ‘gateway’ components of any child protection system.
This brief summarizes and presents contextual information to support the consolidation, strengthening and development of reporting mechanisms and helplines regarding violence against children (VAC) including child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA) in Malaysia. It is arranged in three parts: a) defining the problem, b) rapid mapping of current reporting infrastructure (identifying strengths and weaknesses) and c) possible ways forward.
The data presented is based on rapid desk research and thus limited to publicly available information.
This brief was commissioned by UNICEF Malaysia and prepared by Evident with input from UNICEF. Its contents do not necessarily reflect UNICEF's views.
