Parenting has always posed challenges, even more so in our constantly changing world today. With the Naungan Kasih progamme, you don't have to do it alone.
Naungan Kasih is a positive parenting programme that is accessible online that uses Telegram to deliver key parenting advice and support. It only takes 5 minutes to learn a new parenting skill a day. The programme is available in Bahasa Melayu and English. There are two ways you can access the programme, via the NK App, or through Telegram (you need to have Telegram installed). What is Naungan Kasih?
Naungan Kasih is a Positive Parenting curriculum jointly developed by LPPKN, UPM, UNICEF, and PLH and is based on LPPKN’s parenting modules. It was developed in consultation with experts in parenting and is based on the Malaysian context.
Do I need to pay anything for this service?
The NK Programme is free to download and use. UNICEF does not charge a premium. However, your standard telco internet rates may apply when using the NK App or Telegram.
Do I need to be a UNICEF donor?
No! Anyone can use the chatbot.
Who is this chatbot for?
The chatbot is targeted at parents in Malaysia with children aged between 2-9 years but do stay tuned as we hope to add content for parents of children in other age groups soon.
What topics will I find in the chatbot?

What are some of the benefits of positive parenting?
Positive Parenting methods have been shown to improve relationships between parents/caregivers and children, optimize early childhood development, enhance parents/caregivers’ and children’s mental health, address disciplinary challenges surrounding children, and prepare them for school. Recent studies also show that children who had a positive parenting experience in early childhood can earn up to 25% more than their peers in adulthood.
I don’t feel comfortable using an online platform. Can I access Naungan Kasih in other ways?
Currently, NK Text is only available online. However, many government agencies and private NGOs offer various positive parenting courses in-person, or a combination of in-person and online. LPPKN conducts Positive Parenting courses periodically, so please check with your nearest LPPKN center to find out more.

This programme is currently being implemented in Malaysia in collaboration with the Malaysian National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) within the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, the Community Development Department (KEMAS) within the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysian Association of Social Workers (MASW), UNICEF Malaysia, University of Oxford, IDEMS International, and Parenting for Lifelong Health.
