Highlights

In 2021, UNICEF continued to support the Government of Malawi in realizing the rights of children, as we worked together to strengthen the COVID-19 national response across the country. One of the main highlights was the procurement and delivery of 2.8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines through the COVAX facility that offered reprieve to thousands of Malawians worn down by three waves of infections. Despite the challenges, UNICEF continued the work on long-term development goals and prioritized systems strengthening at all levels, to ensure all children in Malawi have equitable and timely access to health, nutrition, education, water, sanitation and hygiene, and protection services and supplies. We are proud of the results we achieved for children in Malawi in 2021 which was made possible because of our many partners’ support.
