Child-Lens Investing

Aligning global capital with the well-being of children.

Children are among the world’s most vital stakeholders: they are tomorrow’s workers, innovators, and leaders. Yet they’re often overlooked in investment decisions.

Child-Lens Investing (CLI) is a pioneering approach that integrates children’s well-being and rights into investments. It builds on the recognition that every investment decision has direct or indirect impacts on children. CLI helps investors intentionally consider child-related factors to advance positive outcomes while minimizing harm.

By building on the best practices of ESG and impact investing, CLI unlocks smarter, more inclusive strategies that combine positive impact on children with financial returns. It also strengthens long-term value creation and contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Become part of Child-Lens Investing community

Child-Lens Investing (CLI) was developed in collaboration with over 100 global stakeholders – and the co-operation to build the field continues. UNICEF invites all actors in the responsible investment ecosystem to join us in shaping this novel approach.

By engaging with financial institutions across asset classes – including private and listed equity investors, commercial and development banks, DFIs and IFIs, pension and sovereign wealth funds, investment banks, and asset managers – UNICEF works to influence markets, align finance with child rights and well-being, and strengthen data and impact measurement practices to drive the adoption of Child-Lens Investing.

The UNICEF Innovative Finance Hub welcomes collaboration on a wide range of opportunities from thought leadership and research to engaging with funds with a child lens and other transformative initiatives.
