The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) and UNICEF are making significant strides in strengthening routine immunization in Pakistan, a country still grappling with polio and measles outbreaks.
Between May and September 2024, critical milestones have been achieved in protecting under-vaccinated and unvaccinated children under the age of five.
Through KSrelief's funding and UNICEF's implementation:
- 2.8 million doses of oral polio vaccine were procured and distributed, surpassing initial targets.
- 36 health workers received specialized training under the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) to enhance vaccination tracking and delivery.
- Two health facilities in Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan will be solarized
- In the supported health facilities, 90% of infants born between October 2023 and August 2024 received timely immunization.
KSrelief's generous funding has been instrumental in this initiative, enabling the procurement of vaccines, training of health workers, and improvement of healthcare infrastructure.
