The Child Rights Awareness Activities Toolkit (CRAAT) was developed by UNICEF Gulf Area Office in collaboration with The Community Development Authority in the United Arab Emirates. This comprehensive toolkit aims to promote child rights among children, their families, and the community, fostering an environment where children are aware of their rights and empowered to advocate for themselves.
What’s Inside the Toolkit?
The CRAAT includes various training materials and activities designed for schoolteachers and children. It offers resources that are adaptable for different age groups, ensuring that the message of child rights is accessible and engaging for all.
Why Use CRAAT?
Teacher Training Materials: The toolkit provides a Training of Trainers (ToT) modality, equipping teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively use CRAAT. This training empowers teachers to implement these activities directly in their classrooms, promoting a deeper understanding of child rights.
Age-Appropriate Activities: CRAAT caters to three distinct age groups: 6 to 9 years old, 10 to 14 years old, and 15 to 18 years old. Each group has 20 tailored activities, varying in duration from 15 minutes to one hour, ensuring flexibility and adaptability to different educational settings.
Experiential Learning: All activities are designed around an active, rights-based, experiential learning pedagogy. This learner-centered approach ensures that children not only learn about their rights but also understand how to advocate for them in real-life situations.

The CRAAT materials are available for download on this page. We encourage educators, community leaders, and advocates to utilize these resources to create a more informed and empowered generation of children.
