This Handbook provides guidance on how to design a Child-Friendly City. It introduces the global framework and the basic principles of the Child-Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI). It also offers a step-by-step description of the various CFCI phases, including the situation analysis, the implementation, the monitoring and evaluation process, as well as the criteria for the recognition of a city as child-friendly. At the same time, this Handbook leaves adequate room for adaptation of the CFCI to the local context, needs and priorities of each city.
