Libreville, October 6, 2025 – A large-scale training dedicated to digital teaching and learning was launched today at the Alibandeng School Complex for the benefit of 200 teachers of 4th and 5th grade classes, school principals, and digital focal points from the Estuaire educational district.

This training is part of the ongoing digitalization of primary education, initiated in 2022 in Gabon through a partnership between Airtel and UNICEF.

The objective is to strengthen the digital and techno-pedagogical skills of Gabonese teachers to enable the effective integration of technology into educational practices.

Structured into interactive modules, the training will cover the following topics:

  • Basic digital literacy
  • Online child protection
  • Managing behavior change in schools
  • Blended learning
  • Course tutoring via the Learning Passport Gabon platform

Facilitated by UNICEF in collaboration with trainers from the Ministry of National Education—members of the Pedagogical Coordination of the Primary Education Digitalization Program—this initiative is part of a broader movement to transform education in Gabon.

It also aims to promote the use of the Learning Passport, an innovative platform developed with the National Pedagogical Institute, offering interactive content aligned with the national curriculum.

“Training teachers is an investment in tomorrow’s builders. It means empowering them to awaken minds, transmit knowledge, and nurture talent. But above all, it means giving every child the opportunity to realize their potential, to dream, and to succeed,”
emphasized Dina Rakotoharifetra, UNICEF Deputy Representative in Gabon.

Thanks to Airtel’s support, optimal connectivity will be ensured throughout the training, allowing participants to gain hands-on experience with digital tools.

This initiative comes just after World Teachers' Day and marks a key milestone in the implementation of the Primary Education Digitalization Program in Gabon.

At the end of this four-day training, the trained teachers will be equipped to provide online tutoring in the 45 connected and equipped schools, directly benefiting up to 9,000 students.
