Coronavirus disease
UNICEF Eswatini is supporting the government of the Kingdom of Eswatini in the prevention and response to Covid-19
This is a new virus that causes respiratory illness in people and spreads from person-to-person through sneezing and cough droplets. This disease has signs and symptoms similar to the common cold, but can be dangerous if not reported early and managed by health workers.
Everyone is at risk. However, elderly and people with other health conditions such as lung or heart diseases, renal failure or weak immune system are at a higher risk of infection.
In February 2020, the Government of Eswatini declared COVID-19 as an emergency.
