What is your name and how old are you? I’m Layla and I’m 11 years old

Where do you live? Christ Church, Barbados

What are your favourite things to do? Drawing, listening to music and playing with my pets.

What comes to mind when you hear the words “climate change”? I understand that when pollution and the earth both mix together with the heating of the earth and the garbage, it basically promotes climate change.

What does climate change do to the country? It heats everything up, making people hot and dogs and animals more thirsty.

How does climate change make you feel? I’m very concerned about it, because it brings weather like heavy rain, thunder, lightning and more droughts. Hot weather it’s very hot and sticky and some of the weather is very anxiety inducing.

How do you feel about what world leaders are doing to fight climate change? I feel like they could contribute a bit more and discuss more feelings about climate change.

What do you want to be when you grow up? A silk artist or an aerial silker or just an artist doing drawings.

Do you think it’s possible to actually solve climate change? I think we definitely can if we all put in our part and work together.

You attended the Barbados Climate Action Summit in 2022. Do you remember the slogan for that event? Yes. It was “less talk, more action”.

What does that mean to you? It means we need to stop saying we’re going to do it and actually do it.
