John Agbor

John Agbor

John Agbor assumed his role as UNICEF Representative in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on 24 April 2025.

With over 30 years of experience in humanitarian aid and international development, he brings strategic leadership to the implementation of the 2025–2029 cooperation programme between UNICEF and the Government of the DRC.

John Agbor joined UNICEF in 2004. Focusing on child health, he has served in the DRC, Liberia, Somalia, Nigeria and Pakistan. He continued his commitment to children and communities as UNICEF Representative in Burundi (2020–2023), and later in Burkina Faso (2023–2025).

Before joining UNICEF, he worked with the World Health Organization and Médecins Sans Frontières.

A national of Cameroon, John Agbor holds a doctorate in medicine and additional degrees in public health and development. He is fluent in French and English.
