Highlights

The RITEC Game Design Features & Children’s Well-Being Card Deck is part of the RITEC Design Toolbox, which provides online gaming design teams with practical tools for incorporating support for children’s well-being into their design process.

Developed together with game designers, this card deck aims to be a practical tool which design teams can use throughout their work , to incorporate children’s well-being into their designs.

There are two main ways to navigate the cards:

  1. Click on the “Experiences” tab and select which one of the eight player experiences you want to design for, using the RITEC-8 navigation wheel.
Clicking on each experience will provide what, why, and how to design for it. It will also include quotes from children about this well-being dimension.

  2. Click on the “Categories” tab and select which kind of game design feature you want to create. These categories were identified during the RITEC research.
Clicking on each category will give you a list of game design features that can contribute to children’s well-being.
Clicking on each feature will present Do’s and Don’ts for designing this feature, based on the RITEC research, as well as screenshots of practical examples and quotes from children.

There are two file types of available download: one design for mobile, and the other for desktop.
