Highlights

On 9 October 2024, UNICEF convened a breakfast on the side of the African Business and Human Rights Forum in Nairobi, Kenya.  The breakfast offered the opportunity to discuss the intersection between legislation on responsible business conduct, such as mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence, and children’s rights within the context of global trade and competitiveness.

The briefing offers a summary of the discussion, highlighting key insights and examples on addressing the root causes of child rights deprivations, including child labor. It also underscores the critical role businesses can play in these interventions as part of their human rights and environmental due diligence efforts.
