Highlights

Family-friendly policies are good for children, good for families, good for business, and good for society. When parents and caregivers have the time, resources, and support they need to care for their children, children are more likely to survive, thrive, and reach their full potential. At the same time, family-friendly workplaces benefit employers through improved employee wellbeing, engagement, retention, and productivity, while contributing to stronger, more inclusive, and resilient societies.

These training and communication materials accompany the Toolkit on Building Family-Friendly Workplaces and are designed to help companies understand, implement, and champion family-friendly policies. Through practical guidance, tools, and real-world examples, they support businesses in creating workplaces that deliver positive outcomes for children, families, employees, and business performance alike.

Training Modules

The training program consists of six modules designed to guide companies from understanding the foundations of family-friendly policies to implementing practical solutions in different workplace settings. Each module is accompanied by a facilitator guide containing learning objectives, facilitation notes, exercises, discussion prompts, and practical guidance to support delivery and adaptation to different audiences and contexts.

Modules 1 and 2 provide a common foundation and are intended for all participants. Modules 3 to 6 are available in versions tailored to four workplace settings: Factories, Farms, Offices, and Service-Oriented Settings, enabling companies to explore implementation challenges and solutions relevant to their operational context.

Module 1: Introduction to Family-Friendly Policies

Module 2: Business Case for Family-Friendly Policies

Module 3: Planning and Developing Family-Friendly Policies

Module 4: Common Challenges and Pitfalls

Module 5: Implementing Family-Friendly Policies

Module 6: Measuring Progress and Sustaining Impact

Guides and Surveys includes the Facilitator Guide for getting started, a Participants Guide and Pre- and Post- Training Surveys designed to support training delivery.
