Highlights

UNICEF supported the development of Belize’s Community Health Worker (CHW) Strategy to help the Ministry of Health and Wellness expand access to essential health services for children and families, especially those living in remote and underserved communities. The strategy reflects the national commitment to every child’s right to health, ensuring that where a child lives should never determine their ability to receive quality healthcare and support.

Launched in 2026, the CHW Strategy is a key step toward strengthening Belize’s primary healthcare system and bringing services closer to communities. Through its health programmes, UNICEF continues to support the implementation of the strategy as an important approach to improving health outcomes for children and families while building a stronger, more equitable health system for all.
