UNICEF Afghanistan statement on fraudulent aid registration claims
UNICEF Afghanistan is aware of reports that individuals falsely claiming to be affiliated with UNICEF are attempting to sell fraudulent registrations for access to food and non-food humanitarian assistance. UNICEF is currently verifying these reports.
UNICEF reiterates that all UNICEF support, like all United Nations humanitarian assistance, is provided solely on the basis of need and is always free of charge.
UNICEF urges community members to remain vigilant, to refrain from sharing personal information or documents with unknown individuals, and not to provide money to anyone claiming they can facilitate access to humanitarian assistance.
