About

The Situation Analysis of Children in Ukraine: 2024 assesses the conditions and needs of children amid the ongoing war, providing rights- and evidence-based insights to inform decision-making and program development. The report aims to support the improvement of the lives of children in Ukraine by identifying barriers and areas needing support, aligning with the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals. The report provides an in-depth analysis of the challenges faced by children in Ukraine, covering critical areas such as health, education, child protection, social policy, and water, sanitation and hygiene.

The analysis reveals alarming statistics, including a significant decline in the child population, extensive damage to health and educational infrastructure, and severe impacts on water and sanitation systems which has disrupted children’s access to critical services.

The report also highlights identified bottlenecks across various sectors and proposed strategies to address these challenges. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of child rights monitoring to track progress and ensure the effective implementation of policies and programs.

The report underscores the urgent need for coordinated efforts to address these challenges and ensure that all children in Ukraine enjoy their rights.

In addition to the full report, an interactive story developed by UNICEF's partners, Ukrainian Institute for Social Research after Olexander Yaremenko and Texty.org.ua highlights the most important data and statistics on children, making the key findings more accessible and engaging for a broader audience: https://texty.org.ua/d/2024/childhood-disrupted/
