COVID-19 is a global problem – and COVAX is a global solution.
Vaccinating the world against this disease will be the largest vaccine procurement and supply operation in history. UNICEF and partners, with generous support from our donors, are working around the clock to ensure that no country is left behind.
But we can’t do it alone.
COVID-19 vaccines can help end the pandemic, but it’s essential that everyone has access to them. The world has a lot of COVID-19 vaccines, but currently less than 1 per cent of global supply is reaching people in low-income countries. That's why UNICEF is calling on well-supplied countries to donate doses – now. A recent analysis showed it is possible for well-supplied countries to donate vaccine doses without having a significant impact on their commitments to vaccinate their own adult population. COVAX’s need for doses is greatest right now, while it waits for direct procurements to gather momentum and for production to increase.
