Beware of Fraudulent Requests and Impersonation
Important Notice from UNICEF Pacific
UNICEF Pacific has been made aware of individuals fraudulently impersonating UNICEF staff to solicit goods, services, or other benefits from businesses and service providers. These requests may include accommodation, supplies, logistical support, or other services and are not authorized by UNICEF.
In many cases, these fraudulent communications appear highly convincing and may:
- Use UNICEF’s name, logo, or branding.
- Refer to real UNICEF programmes or staff.
- Claim urgency or request advance provision of goods or services.
- Appear to come from email addresses that closely resemble official UNICEF accounts.
Important facts to know
- UNICEF does not request goods or services informally by email, messaging apps, or phone calls.
- UNICEF does not ask vendors or service providers to provide services upfront without a formal contract.
- All official UNICEF procurement opportunities are published through the United Nations Global Marketplace (UNGM).
- Official UNICEF email address always end in @unicef.org
How to verify a request
Before responding to any request claiming to be from UNICEF, we strongly encourage you to:
- Verify the sender’s email address carefully (check spelling and domain).
- Confirm that the request aligns with information published on UNICEF’s official website.
- Check whether the request relates to an active and verifiable UNICEF tender published on UNGM.
- Contact UNICEF directly using publicly listed contact details rather than replying to the message.
