Mr. Stefano Savi joined Niger as UNICEF Representative in July 2021.

Mr. Savi is an international development professional and a strong advocate for children's rights with over 25 years of experience with United Nations agencies and international organizations, with a focus on country programme management and substantive experience in a variety of thematic areas, including response to humanitarian emergencies. Mr. Savi has served UNICEF for over 19 years.

Prior to his posting in Niger, Mr. Savi served as Deputy Representative of UNICEF in Afghanistan (since 2017), Bangladesh (2016) and Haiti (2012-2015) and was the Chief of the Balochistan UNICEF Field Office in Pakistan (2010-2012). Since 2003, Mr. Savi has provided technical assistance to UNICEF in the areas of humanitarian action and child protection in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nepal, Cameroon and Sri Lanka.

Prior to joining UNICEF, Mr. Savi served the international organizations Médecins Sans Frontières, as Director General, Head of Mission or Project Coordinator in Afghanistan and Sierra Leone, and COOPI as Head of Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Mr. Savi holds a Master in Cooperation and Development from the University of Pavia (Italy), and focused his studies for 3 years in psychomotor skills and 3 years in physical education and pedagogy.

A citizen of Italy, Mr. Savi is fluent in French, English and Italian, is married and has a child.
