Living in a tent with her newborn Khaled, Darine faces immense challenges, from the painful nights sleeping on hard ground to securing basic needs for her and her baby survival. She recently received some baby clothes that slightly eased her burden. "I'm very happy to have received clothes for Khaled because I really didn't know what I would have done otherwise," she says.

The ongoing war marks Noura's experience as a new mother. The high cost of living makes essentials like baby clothes unaffordable. At 20 USD for one piece of baby clothes, these are usually not affordable for the most vulnerable families, who were often displaced 4 or 5 times, carrying only what they had on their back. The baby clothes delivered provided some relief, but Noura and her babies situation remain extremely dire. "I am deeply saddened to have brought him into the world during a war," Noura says, hoping for a safer future for her son Majed.

Widad's pregnancy was fraught with difficulties due to food shortages and poor hygiene, intensifying her fear of miscarriage. The arrival of new clothes for her son Mahmoud became a rare source of happiness. "It's the first thing that has made me happy in a long time," Widad shares, clinging to hope for peace.

Displaced and living in dire conditions, Qamar Al-Najjar worries for her son Fahd, who was born underweight due to lack of nutrition. "Throughout my pregnancy, I was sick and cried daily over the harsh conditions we faced," she says. The support from UNICEF, including clothes and diapers, offers a beacon of hope. "These items have given me a sense of hope that there is still some good in the world," Qamar reflects.

The healthcare situation in the Gaza Strip is challenging, particularly for pregnant women and children. UNICEF, with partners, is making a significant difference in these communities by distributing 1,000 baby clothing kits and essential supplies, providing a lifeline of crucial assistance.

These efforts, which have brought hope and a sense of normalcy to mothers, were made possible with the support of Norway, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, European Union Humanitarian Aid (ECHO), Yousef Al-Bashiti and Sons Company in Jordan. The kits, delivered to maternity hospitals in Nussirat, Dair Albalah, and Rafah, providing warmth and comfort to newborns affected by the ongoing conflict.
