Catalyzing global capital for children
The UNICEF Innovative Finance Hub (IF) aims to reimagine how UNICEF accelerates financing for the underfunded Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the welfare of children.
Traditional funding modalities alone cannot meet the financial demands of today’s complex global challenges. Exploring and leveraging new financing models can unlock untapped resources to fund both established and novel initiatives, driving faster progress toward achieving the SDGs.
The work of the Innovative Finance Hub is closely aligned with UNICEF’s Innovative Finance for Children (IF4C) strategy. The Hub serves as a platform to develop and scale financial solutions that address global challenges, with the ultimate goal of securing a better future for children everywhere.
The Hub works in two areas:
Innovative Financing aims to unlock, align, accelerate, and amplify global capital to support children’s needs. It focuses on reshaping the investment landscape by integrating considerations for children’s rights and well-being into financial decisions, delivering returns that are both financial and impact-driven. With the development of the child-lens investing field, the Hub encourages investors to intentionally consider child-related factors to advance positive outcomes for children while minimizing harm.
- Emerging Fundraising explores new technologies, business models, and approaches to global fundraising that are still evolving. Beyond discovering new ways to raise funds, the Hub aims to transform the ways people can engage with UNICEF, enhance transparency of UNICEF's impact, and empower donors, UNICEF and local communities to achieve more.
