Dubai – New York, 31 May 2023 – UNICEF today welcomes Mr. Khalil Elie Abou Jaoude as a new member of its International Council; the first member from Lebanon. The recent donation from Mr. Abou Jaoude – the CEO of Aja Group Holding - will support UNICEF to help reach the world’s most vulnerable and excluded children.

“I am delighted to welcome Mr. Khalil Abou Jaoude to our community of philanthropists who have teamed up with UNICEF to double down on our investments for children.  As a Council we know that the return on our investment is nearly limitless as every dollar keeps on investing for years – leading to the ultimate return of a stable society. Together we have the power to affect real change (in society) and to deliver for vulnerable children and families”. Said Maria Ahlström-Bondestam, UNICEF International Council Chair.

"I am honored to be a part of UNICEF International Council and to contribute to the well-being of children worldwide. Every child deserves access to quality education, healthcare, and protection, water, regardless of their circumstances,” Said Mr. Khalil Abou Jaoude. “By working together, we can create a brighter future for every child and empower them to reach their full potential." He added.

UNICEF International Council is a unique community of the world’s leading business families, global influencers and philanthropists who want to optimize their philanthropic investments for children by bringing together their funding, influence and expertise. With members from over 15 different countries, members work hand in hand with UNICEF to identify the most pressing challenges facing children worldwide and demonstrate how strategic philanthropy can catalyze solutions and greater impact.

"We are grateful for Mr. Khalil Abou Jaoude's donation to support UNICEF programmes to protect and nurture children. His commitment to the well-being of children reflects his deep compassion and dedication to making a positive change in their lives," said Eltayeb Adam, UNICEF Representative to the Gulf Area. "With this membership in the International Council, UNICEF gains a passionate advocate who will inspire his peers to join the movement and make a lasting impact on the lives of children in the Gulf area, Middle East and North Africa Region and around the world”
