Jacques Mabea, a national of Côte d’Ivoire, has been serving as the Deputy Representative of Operations at UNICEF Guinea-Bissau since January 2022.
With over 20 years of experience in strategic operations and leadership across humanitarian, development, and private sector contexts, Mr. Mabea’s career is marked by a strong commitment to operational excellence and the delivery of efficient, effective, and accountable results for children.
Before joining UNICEF in 2011, Mr. Mabea has held key leadership roles in Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Niger, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Guinea-Bissau. Across these assignments, he has contributed to programme delivery through innovative and resilient operational strategies, particularly in fragile, conflict-affected, and emergency settings.
In his current role, Mr. Mabea oversees all operational functions of the UNICEF Guinea-Bissau Country Office, providing strategic leadership to ensure that systems and processes are fully aligned with the organization’s objectives. A passionate advocate for innovation, he actively promotes the use of technology and creative solutions to enhance operational efficiency, accountability, and programme impact.
Previously, he held several senior roles, including Operations Manager for UNICEF Nigeria, Supply & Logistics Specialist with UNICEF Niger and DRC, and Head of Office with the World Food Programme (WFP) in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He also served as Country Logistics Manager with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Côte d’Ivoire. In the private sector, Mr. Mabea held leadership positions such as Head of Department, and General Manager, further strengthening his broad operational expertise.
Jacques Mabea holds a Master of Science in Strategic & Operational Management, a master’s in project management, and a Master’s in Transport and Logistics.
