Bertrand Bainvel
Biography
Bertrand Bainvel has been serving as UNICEF’s Director for Europe of the UNICEF Public Partnerships and Resource Mobilization (UNICEF PPR Europe) office in Brussels since 2023.
Driving UNICEF’s mission at the heart of Europe, Mr Bainvel is building strategic relationships with European leaders, EU institutions and European Member States to champion children’s rights, at a time when they face conflicts, rapid climate change, poverty, ballooning debts, and the erosion of investments in services so critical to them.
He leads an office mobilizing support from major EU and European Member States to UNICEF, to deliver critical responses for children in emergencies, and invest in resilient services, systems and policies promoting children’s rights across the globe.
Mr Bainvel joined UNICEF in 1993 and has worked in leadership, programmatic and partnership roles in the Middle East and North Africa, Myanmar, the Russian Federation, Jamaica, State of Palestine, Albania, Mongolia and the USA. Prior to joining UNICEF, he worked within financial and marketing private sector companies in France.
He holds a Master in Business Administration from H.E.C, Paris and a Master in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Cambridge, USA.
