Highlights

Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges of our time, and its effects are already being felt in Burundi.

This analysis highlights the critical impact of climate change on children in Burundi and the importance of concerted action to build a sustainable future. Through the CLAC (Climate Landscape Analysis for Children), it is pointed out that while children are among the main victims of the effects of climate change, they can also play a crucial role in solutions and even become agents of change within communities.

The report aims to serve as a strategic guide for informing public policies and projects designed to strengthen children's resilience to the triple global crisis – climate change, environmental pollution, and biodiversity loss.

The results of this study were obtained through a multisectoral consultative approach involving the Government of Burundi across several key sectors, including finance, youth, health, education, environment, energy, water, and community development, as well as organizations working with children and youth, climate activist organizations, technical and financial partners, and various other stakeholders. This integrated approach enabled the identification and co-creation of effective and coherent solutions to address the impacts of climate change on children.
