Highlights

Guided by the principles of Gross National Happiness, Bhutan has made the mental health and well-being of children and adolescents a national priority. In partnership with The PEMA Secretariat, the Ministry of Education and Skills Development, and other stakeholders, UNICEF Bhutan supports efforts to strengthen awareness, services and support systems that help young people thrive.

Every young person’s mental health takes shape in daily life, in classrooms, family conversations, friendships, and digital spaces. To encourage open discussions and tackle issues like stress, academic pressure, bullying, and barriers to seeking help, The PEMA Secretariat, Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD), and UNICEF Bhutan launched the nationwide #OnMyMind campaign.

The report "What's On Their Mind?" captures the campaign’s reach, key findings from an anonymous national pulse survey, personal lived-experience stories, and actionable lessons to strengthen adolescent mental health and psychosocial support across Bhutan.
