Highlights
UNICEF Belize undertook a Gender Programmatic Review (GPR), with support from UNICEF HQ and Regional Offices, to assess its programmatic and budgetary performance in gender programming. The GPR was intended to strengthen UNICEF Belize's programming to ensure integrated gender equality initiatives that not only address the symptoms of inequality but also challenge the underlying norms, systems, and power dynamics that sustain it.
The resulting UNICEF Belize Gender Strategy 2023 was developed through extensive consultation with key stakeholders, experts, adolescent and young people, and gender experts to ensure its effectiveness and relevance. It seeks to improve the lives of girls and boys by tacking gender from multiple levelsindividual, family, community and institutional, building on the following six (6) pillars.
