World Water Day 2026
Water and Gender: Where Water Flows, Equality Grows
This week, UNICEF is proud to stand with the Government of Belize and national partners as we commemorate World Water Day 2026. This is a moment to reaffirm a simple but powerful truth: water is a right, not a privilege. Every child, every woman, and every family deserves access to safe, reliable, and climate‑resilient water systems that support their health, dignity, and future.
As Belize advances its Climate Landscape Analysis for Children (CLAC+), World Water Day activities are helping drive meaningful dialogue on how water security, gender equality, and climate change intersect to shape children’s lives. Events such as the National Youth Water Debate and the World Water Day Fair are giving young people a platform to voice their ideas, solutions, and concerns.
UNICEF Belize’s Acting Representative, Sajid Ali, joined partners at today’s opening ceremony, underscoring UNICEF’s commitment to supporting Belize in building resilient water systems and ensuring equitable access for the most vulnerable children and communities. When water flows safely and sustainably, children thrive, women are empowered, and equality grows.
