Highlights

  • 152,198 AWD with dehydration cases were reported from 333 districts since January 2023, of which 87,242 (57%) were children under the age of five and 75,747 (50%) were females. UNICEF continues to scale up health, WASH and social behaviour change interventions in response to the increase of reported acute watery diarrhoea cases.
  • UNICEF further scaled up its nutrition response with the screening of over 1.3 million children for acute malnutrition through mobile and fixed health facilities and the treatment of over 60,000 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition.
  • UNICEF supported over 682,000 children (60% girls) with access to education through more than 20,800 community-based education classes in 32 provinces.
  • A winter response strategy targeting 111,000 households with humanitarian cash transfers has been developed. Funding needs amount to US$ 94 million.
