Highlights

The survey gathered data on different types of difficulties or health problems experienced by children and adults with disabilities including self-care difficulty and the impact this may have on their daily lives such as the effect on their ability to participate. Data was also gathered on education/employment status, registration, and access to government support such as disability allowance, assistive devices, use of computers, and information on caregivers.

Since 2017 the disability survey has been using the Child Functioning Module (CFM) developed by the Washington Group (WG) and UNICEF for the first time to collect information on the characteristics of disabilities for children aged between 2 - 17 years; and used the WG extended question set for adults aged 18 years and over. The survey also identified disabilities from physical, mental, and intellectual impairments based on information gathered on all age groups from birth onwards.
