Situational Analysis of the Rights of Persons with Albinism
Zambia Country Report
Highlights
Zambia signed, ratified and domesticated the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in 2008, 2010 and 2012, respectively. The Situation Analysis (SitAn) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2023) explores the way in which the Government of Zambia has implemented the CRPD so far. Through the Situational Analysis, Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) participated in undertaking extensive stakeholder mapping and analyses, in-depth reviews of the disability and inclusive development policy and implementation space to inform systemic change and validation of findings, among others.
Core findings informed the development of the priority areas for implementation of the Global Disability Fund (GDF) Zambia round four Programme, with recommendations formulated in six key areas namely: independent monitoring to improve governance and accountability, national coordination mechanisms, accessibility and disability inclusive planning and budgeting.
