Highlights

The Albinism and Rights in Zambia study (2024), explores lived experiences of persons with albinism in the sociocultural and access to justice context. The study findings shed more light on the various challenges and barriers faced by persons with albinism which include but are not limited to stigma, discrimination, health concerns and life-threatening risks. While the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) provides a robust framework; and the Zambian constitution, Persons with disabilities Act of 2012, Penal code, and Child code Act of 2022 have provisions for upholding rights of persons with albinism, specific provisions to adequately promote and protect the rights of persons with albinism are largely lacking.
