Global initiative on out of school children - Zambia report (2014)

A detailed report on the phenomenon of out of school children in Zambia

Highlights

The study is part of a global initiative by UNICEF and UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) to investigate and understand the complex dimensions and challenges related to out-of-school children and dropouts. In Zambia, the study highlights that despite the near achievement of universal primary education, 500,000 children aged 6-15 are not in school. The disaggregation of the data shows marked discrepancies in access by wealth quintile, location (rural/urban) and gender.
