LUSAKA, 29 March 2020 – Artists Macky2, Chef187, Maureen Lupo Lilanda, Wezi and Pontiano have teamed up with the Ministry of Health and the United Nations in a new song to encourage Zambians to protect themselves and their communities from the coronavirus disease.

The release of the track, entitled ‘Together We Can’, is part of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to sensitise the public to wash hands regularly with soap or hand sanitizers, to maintain physical distancing and to call 909 if they think they have the symptoms.

The song brings together a mix of musical styles and a mix of languages, with messages given in Bemba, English, Kaonde, Lozi, Nyanja, and Tonga.

The project is being coordinated by UNICEF as part of the joint United Nations response in support of the Government of Zambia.

An accompanying music video is in preparation, featuring soap star Mr Nguzu and national football captain Barbra Banda.

A copy of the song can be downloaded here (http://tiny.cc/wcb3lz). The music video is available here.
