COVID-19 has triggered an unprecedented crisis, exacerbating the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) vulnerabilities of children globally and in West and Central Africa (WCA). WASH plays an important role in upholding public health and promoting the well-being and dignity of children. Amid the pandemic, WASH is at the core of disease prevention and control, including sustainable behavioural changes such as handwashing with soap.

Although COVID-19 has disrupted sustainable WASH service provision, increased attention to the importance of WASH during the pandemic provides opportunities to reach more children sustainably and equitably with resilient and sustainable WASH services.
